Data Conscience Catalog
Data has enjoyed ‘bystander’ status as we’ve attempted to digitize responsibility and morality in tech. Tech's philosophy of “move fast and break things” is, itself, broken, and requires change. Increasingly, there's a movement to 'move slower and build better' intended to tackle the racist, gendered, classist, and otherwise oppressive practices of modern tech. This is data conscience.
We give resources to help you discuss the importance of transparency, limitations of computational thinking and share strategies for encouraging accountability in tech and schemes for governing data structures with law and algorithms.
